Is it illegal for a 16 and 18 year old to have sex in Illinois even they had sex while they were 16 and 17?

My Girlfriend and I have had sex while she was 16 and I was 17, but my birthday came along and I am now 18. Is it just suddenly illegal now?

You are correct,you are now an adult while she is still under age.Technically you could be arrested for having sex with a minor even though you have been in a long term relationship with her.

In some states,a 16 year old can have consensual sex but you would still be at risk for statutory rape.
